Shuttle Lands Safely
(CNN) -- The space shuttle Atlantis glided to a picture-perfect landing Friday morning under bright, sunny skies at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The seven-person crew returned after an 11-day mission to deliver key spare parts to prolong the life of the international space station.
The original six-member crew, with flight engineer Nicole Stott -- who launched in August -- returned amid sunny, clear Florida weather.
"Couldn't have picked a clearer day," Cndr. Charles Hobaugh said as the shuttle approached the runway.
Mission Control told Hobaugh that the landing was a "picture-perfect ...Saturday, 28 November 2009

10 Year Old Helps Homeless
(WHAS11) A ten-year-old girl with a big heart finally achieved her dream on Friday.
For the past two years, Makenzie Smith has organized coat drives for the homeless.
This year she finally reached her goal; collecting more than 1,000 coats to be donated to St. Vincent de Paul.
Makenzie was there as crews rolled the coats inside. She said she was able to collect so many coats because of family.
“I have a really big family who knows about it and gives us a bunch of coats. My mom and dad know a bunch of businesses, and we’ve dropped off boxes at different businesses and they’ve collec...Saturday, 28 November 2009

Airline Safety
(CNN) -- Federal investigators are concerned a potential danger persists because of the simultaneous use of intersecting runways at Newark Liberty International Airport, one of the nation's busiest and a gateway to the New York metro area.
The alert comes after repeated instances in which planes above the Newark airport flew too close to each other in violation of safety standards. There were four such instances last year and at least four this year, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation inspector general.
In one case, on January 16, 2008, two Continental planes -- a Boeing B-73...Saturday, 28 November 2009

1.Pa. man fires cannon, hits neighbor's house
UNIONTOWN, Pa. – A Pennsylvania history buff who recreates firearms from old wars accidentally fired a 2-pound cannonball through the wall of his neighbor's home. William Maser, 54, fired a cannonball Wednesday evening outside his home in Georges Township that ricocheted and hit a house 400 yards away. The cannonball, about two inches in diameter, smashed through a window and a wall before landing in a closet. Authorities said nobody was hurt. State police charged Maser with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. No one answered the phone Friday at Maser's home. He told WPXI-TV recreating 19th century cannons is a longtime hobby. He said he is sorry and he will stop shooting them on his property, about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.Astronauts try to work out kinks in urine machine

Five Ways To Write Your Own Paycheck
Who wouldn't want to add an extra digit to their paycheck every month? If you're in the right job, you can. Independent and commissioned workers decide what's on their paycheck by working harder or more hours. Find out how you can land a job where performance truly pays off.
- Sales Representative
Sales representatives earn both a salary and a commission based on how much they sell. Commissions vary, but typically amount to 15 to 20 percent of total earnings. And the sky's the limit: if the sales numbers take off, so does the rep's paycheck. The U.S. Department of Labor reports a $60,190 average for sales representative earnings, and $76,460 for scientific or technical sales reps. But these numbers don't tell the real story: sales reps can double or triple their base salary if they back a lucrative product.
